Pärnu Contemporary Music Days 2020

Pärnu Contemporary Music Days „Composition Models 3. Error in the System“ will be held from January 18 to 26 in Pärnu. The programme includes a symposium, concerts, music workshops, exhibitions, performances, and music listenings.

The aim of Pärnu Contemporary Music Days 2020 is to approach music composition models as system models and to study music as a system through the concept of error. Participants are also encouraged to familiarize themselves with the concepts of system, systems theory, chaos, chaos theory, bifurcation, game, game theory, and evolution.

The symposium features software architect Andres Kütt, philosopher Oliver Laas, composer Atte Tenkanen, composer and musicologist Gerhard Lock, musical instrument maker Heini Soobik, and flute player Tarmo Johannes.

Pärnu Contemporary Music Days 2020 also features an official documentary performance „The Disintegration Loops 1.1“ by William Basinski, commented by composer and multimeedia artist Paul Beaudoin. 

The exhibition “Aesthetics of Error” presents works concerning still images, video and sound from global artists.

Pärnu Koidula Gymnasium hosts an interdisciplinary workshop on musical composition in preparation for the game titled  „SUUR VAIKUS. Ludus finalis“. The workshop ends with a performance. Anyone can join the game on the website of the Estonian Arnold Schoenberg Society.

Pärnu Contemporary Music Days are organised by the Estonian Arnold Schoenberg Society. The Admission to all events is free.
