Dutch Vocal Ensemble TIEN will sing choral music by Estonian and Finnish composers

On November 21 and 29, Dutch Vocal Ensemble TIEN will present an a cappella program “Laulan!” with choral gems from Estonia and Finland in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Apart from choral music by the more renowned composers (Sibelius, Rautavaara, Pärt, Tormis) this program also contains works of young composers.

The full program consists of music by Estonian composers Cyrillus Kreek, Arvo Pärt, Maria Kõrvits, Evelin Seppar, Pärt Uusberg, Ester Mägi, Veljo Tormis, Mariliis Valkonen and Mart Saar. Additionally, choral works by Finnish composers Juhani Komulainen, Einojunai Rautavaara, Selim Palmgren, Toivo Kuula, Pekka Kostiainen and Jaakko Mäntyjärvi will be heard.

The concerts will be held on November 21 at Engelse Kerk (English Reformed Church) at 8.15 pm and November 29 at Buiksloterkerk at 3 pm.

Vocal Ensemble TIEN is founded in the mid '90s and consisting of ca 16 singers. All participants are vocally trained, some of which at music academies. The ensemble prepares concerts twice a year, singing highly diverse repertoire, ranging from renaissance compositions to contemporary music and everything in between. TIEN works with a range of conductors, each specialized in the repertoire and theme chosen for a programme, e.g. Fokko Oldenhuis, JanJoost van Elburg, Felix van den Hombergh, Sanne Nieuwenhuijsen, Enrique López-Cortón and Nicky Bouwers.
