Kotka and Tallinn – 60 years of friendship

On September 16 at 7 pm, concert dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the sister cities Kotka and Tallinn will be held at Estonia Concert Hall in Tallinn. Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and Kymi Sinfonietta (Kotka, Finland) take the stage as a joint orchestra to perform significant works from Estonian and Finnish symphonic music – Heino Eller’s Dawn, Eduard Tubin’s Suite on Estonian Dance Tunes and Jean Sibelius’s Symphony No. 5. Conductors are Risto Joost and Atso Almila (Finland). Today is also the 150th anniversary of the birth of Jean Sibelius and the 110th of Eduard Tubin.

Both Orchestras under the baton of Atso Almila celebrated the 60th anniversary of sister cities with joint concert also on June 3 in Kotka, performing music by Alfred Schnittke, Arvo Pärt and Jean Sibelius.
