On March 23, the piano evening with Urmas Sisask’s works will take place in Japan. Piano cycle Spiral Symphony (1999) will be performed by Takahiro Akiba and Yuko Yoshioka at the Tokyo Musicasa, at the concert cycle „IZUMI TATENO and his Friends“ within the „IZUMI TATENO Festival – Festival of the left hand“. One of the most outstanding Japanese pianist, Izumi Tateno himself will perform the most recent output of Sisask, The Stars of Eivere, Op.142, which was dedicated to him by the author.
Takahiro Akiba is a talented young pianist who has a special interest in Estonian music. From 2003 on, he has played and studied Estonian piano music in Japan and introduced the music of Eduard Tubin, Tõnu Kõrvits, Urmas Sisask, Eduard Oja, Jaan Koha, Heino Eller, Arvo Pärt, Lepo Sumera, Jüri Reinvere and other Estonian composers to Japanese audience. In 2011, Yuko Yoshioka released the CD of Sisask’s Starry Sky Cycle „Northern Sky“.
