In the book “Eduard Tubin’s Formative Years” (“Eduard Tubina kujunemisaastad”) Mihhail Gerts traces the early path of the composer – his origins, studies, first compositions and work as a conductor. He sheds light to relations with relatives, teachers, friends and colleagues, thanks to whom a boy form a small village near lake Peipus became an outstanding composer of the 20th century. He also analyses the early works of the composer and searches for the roots of Tubin’s unique compositional style.
