“Permainų muzika” Closing Concert
Hans Christian Aavik (violin)
Glasperlenspiel Sinfonietta
Conductor Andres Kaljuste
Program: Mozart, Cage, Pärt, Vähi
East meets West—this phrase aptly captures the spirit of this remarkable evening’s program, which brings the “Permainų muzika” (Music of Changes) festival to a powerful close. The concert features the mystical music of Arvo Pärt, a mantra-inspired work by Peeter Vähi rooted in Tibetan spiritual tradition, and the ever-surprising “4’33” by John Cage—a legendary symbol of silence that continues to provoke and inspire.
In contrast to the meditative soundscapes, Mozart’s “Turkish” Violin Concerto and a playful symphony will bring a burst of energy, offering a refreshing and joyful counterbalance.
On stage, musical forces will be led by internationally acclaimed Estonian ensemble Glasperlenspiel Sinfonietta, renowned for their innovative programming and profound sensitivity to contemporary music.
They will be joined by the legendary conductor, violinist, and advocate for both Baroque and contemporary repertoire, Andres Mustonen, a familiar and welcome presence on Lithuanian stages. Also performing is one of the most exciting young Estonian violinists, Hans Christian Aavik, whose talent and expressive artistry continue to earn growing recognition across Europe.
