Henning Kraggerud is a Norwegian violinist whose repertoire has been increasingly broadening throughout the years. He is the art director of the Arctic Chamber Orchestra which he also established, as well as being a composer, arranger, improviser, lecturer, jury member, writer, and essayist, and a passionate explorer of archival collections. He also plays the viola, performs in the composition of numerous chamber music collectives, and loves to play Norwegian folk music.

Kraggerud’s diverse reach arises from his passionate approach to music. His music has been described as exceptionally high-quality and charmingly characteristic of the musician. His work is carried forward by the spirits of Josef Suk and Eugène Ysaÿe, and through the ideal of furthering the concept of pure art. Kraggerudd found a violin concerto by the Norwegian composer Johan Halvorsen which had been believed lost for over a hundred years. He organized its première in the twenty-first century. Now the piece has been recorded and has deservedly found its place in music history.

Henning Kraggerud was born in Oslo in 1973. He studied under Camilla Wicks and Emanuel Hurwitz. He is a winner of the Grieg Prize and the Ole Bull Prize and a Sibelius Prize laureate. Henning Kraggerud will play a Guarneri del Gesù violin from 1744 which belongs to Dextra Musica.
