Eduard Tubin - Sonata for Alto Saxophone and Piano
Darius Milhaud - Scaramouche op. 165b
César Franck - Sonata in A major for Violin and Piano (arranged by I. Roth)
Tubin’s Sonata for Alto Saxophone and Piano holds an important place in the Laur and Jürgenson repertoire, as ten years ago their cooperation began with a performance of this piece. While Tubin’s sonata has a relatively serious undertone, the programme is complemented by Milhaud’s “Scaramouche” adding the summer-appropriate lightness to it. One of the greatest masterpieces of chamber music, Franck’s Violin Sonata finishes the programme in romantic mood.
