Estonian premiere by Fausto Romitelli iconic masterpiece "Professor Bad Trip"

03.12.2021
Location: Estonian National Broadcast Studio 1, Kreutzwaldi 14, Tallinn
Time: 19:00

Ensemble for New Music Tallinn and defunensemble will perform composer Fausto Romitelli's remarkable and best-known masterpiece "Professor Bad Trip". The work itself has also become one of the most important works of contemporary music and was written between 1998 and 2000.

The cycle is organized in a series of three “lessons”, and navigates hazy impressionisms of post-war spectralism, 1970’s Miles Davis and guitar-driven psychedelia. The music is highly reflective of Romitelli’s own life and studies, which brought him both under the shadow of Boulez at IRCAM’s electronic music studio, and later into Italy’s psychedelic rock scene. "I have been fascinated by digitized images, synthetic sounds and objects since I was born.

‘Ever since I was born, I have been immersed in digitalised images, synthetic sounds, artefacts. Artificial, distorted, filtered – this is the nature of man today’, says Franco Romitelli
