Harry Traksmann

The violinist Harry Traksmann is a versatile musician but none of his relevant musical ensembles (NYYD Ensemble, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and New Tallinn Trio) can do without contemporary music. Traksmann is valued as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestra musician.
Harry Traksmann began his violin studies in Tallinn Music High School with Tiiu Peäske in 1981, after graduation in 1992 he continued in Estonian Academy of Music with Professor Jüri Gerretz.
In 1996, Traksmann gained a diploma at Heino Eller International Violin Competition in Tallinn. In 1998, he participated at Kuhmo International Duo Competition in Finland with pianist Marrit Gerretz-Traksmann.
Harry Traksmann has acted as a chamber musician in a number of ensembles. New Tallinn Trio together with cellist Kaido Kelder and pianist Marrit Gerretz-Traksmann has achieved several prizes at competitions. Since its founding in 1993, Harry Traksmann works in Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, since 1997 he is a concert master of the orchestra and he has also performed as a soloist in front of Tallinn Chamber Orchestra. Since 1997, Harry Traksmann also participates in the work of NYYD Ensemble and plays in NYYD Ensemble String Quartet that includes violinist Juta Õunapuu, viola player Torsten Tiebout and cellist Leho Karin besides himself.
Harry Traksmann has recorded a number of albums for ECM, with music of Arvo Pärt, Erkki-Sven Tüür and Heino Eller among them.
