Kristina Kriit

Kristina Kriit began music studies at Tallinn Music High School under the guidance of Aino Riikjärv. In 2000 Kriit graduated from Estonian Music Academy with Prof. Mari Tampere-Bezrodny and developed her skills in 2001–2002 at Mozarteum University of Salzburg under the guidance of Hermann Kienzl. In 2004 Kristina Kriit obtained magister’s degree from Estonian Academy of Music under the guidance of Prof. Mari Tampere-Bezrodny. In addition Kriit has participated at master classes of Igor Bezrodny, Hermann Krebbers, Eduard Schmieder, Anatoli Reznikovski, Keiko Wataya ect.

Kristina Kriit is renowned performer of contemporary music, she has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in all over Europe and Scandinavia. She often cooperates with Pille Lill Music Fund. Her ensemble partners include among others Ralf Taal, Taavi Kerikmäe, Vahur Vurm, Meelis Milli, Ene Salumäe, Tiia Tenno, Diana Liiv, Sigrid Orusaar, Toomas Nestor, Aare Tammesalu ect. In 2005 Kristina Kriit founded The Tallinn String Trio, comprising also musicians Toomas Nestor (violin) and Levi-Danel Mägila (cello), the trio has performed with it at several international festivals and has been also first performer of Estonian composers music. Most often of Estonian music Kristina Kriit has performed Eduard Tubin’s Sonata for Violin Solo, which also has been recorded by Estonian Public Broadcast.

Kristina Kriit has participated at several international contests including Heino Eller Inetrnational Violin Competition in Estonia (1966, special prize), Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competiton in Poland (1977) and international chamber music contest „Music without limits“ in Lithuania (2010, 4th prize). In addition Kristina Kriit has been has been a scholar of the prestigious The International Holland Music Sessions (2001 and 2002).

At the present time she is a lecturer and PhD candidate in the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and second concertmaster of the Estonian National Opera Symphony Orchestra.
