9th Estonian Piano Competition to be held at the end of November

From November 21 to 29, the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre will host the 9th Estonian Piano Competition. The competition will consist of three rounds, with the final round allowing the best competitors to perform with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra.

The competition consists of three rounds, which altogether with the awards ceremony will be held at the newly opened Concert Hall of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. The compulsory work in the second round of this year’s competition is a commission from composer Pärt Uusberg. The final round allows the best competitors to perform with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra. The ENSO will be conducted by Jaan Ots.

Participating pianists will be judged by an international five-member jury. The chairman of the five-member jury of the 9th Estonian Piano Competition will be Professor Graham Scott from the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester. The other members of the jury are Professor Jurgis Karnavičius from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, Niklas Pokki from Sibelius Academy, Professor Ivari Ilja and piano teacher Mati Mikalai from Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre.

All the rounds are open to the public.
