Soprano Kersti Ala-Murr sings in The Clemency of Titus

Estonian soprano Kersti Ala-Murr participates in Norwegian production of The Clemency of Titus (La clemenza di Tito) by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart that will be played three times in Sandnes Cultural House. Kersti Ala-Murr sings the role of Vitellia, her understudy is her professor Elizabeth Norberg-Schulz.

It is a production by Teatro Verdi from Sassari, Sardinia, that is directed by Marco Spade and which costumes and design is made by Allessandro Chiammarughi. The opera production will be conducted by Per Kristian Skalstad; also the student orchestra and choir of University of Stavanger are participating. In other roles Helge Rønning (Tito), Hedda Bakker or Siv Oda Hagerupsen (Sesto), Tone Kummervold (Annio), Leif Jone Ølberg (Publio) and Linn Ellise Hovland or Henie Ihler Ørstad (Servilia) are featuring.

The premiere of The Clemency of Titus will take place on Friday, April 18th at 7 PM. The production will also be played in two following evenings: on April 19th and 20th at 7 PM.

Kersti Ala-Murr graduated Estonian Academy of Music as an opera singer in 2000. Since 1996 she lives in Norway and has been continued her studies with Åse Nordmo Løvberg, Kåre Ørnung, Elizabeth Norberg-Schulz and others. She has also studied at the School of Opera of Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe, Germany with Maria Venuti and attended master classes of many reputable singers. Since autumn 2007 she continues her master studies with Elizabeth Norberg-Schulz in Norway at the Stavanger University. Kersti Ala-Murr was a grantee of Estonian Association of Professional Musicians in 2007. She has been a semifinalist at the International Singing Competition for Young Opera Singers in Rieti, Italy and received a prize at the Hendrik Krumm Competition for Estonian singers in 2005. Kersti Ala-Murr has participated in productions and performances at the Estonian National Opera, the Estonian Music Academy and the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe, also performed at recitals and other cultural events in Estonia and Scandinavia, also in other places in Europe and USA.
