Scottish premiere of Tõnu Kõrvits’s „Stabat Mater“


The Sixteen

On October 2, The Sixteen will perform Tõnu Kõrvits’s Stabat Mater. Work premiered by the same choir in June in London, will be performed this time in Scotland, Cumnock St. John’s Church at the festival The Cumnock Tryst (artistic director James MacMillan). As in the concert in June, three pieces on texts of Stabat Mater are in the programme. Beside Kõrvits’s there are also works of Alissa Firsova and Matthew Martin. They will be sung alongside with music by the Renaissance composer John Sheppard, the concert will end with James MacMillan’s Miserere. Choir is conducted by its founder Harry Christophers.
