Reval Ensemble

Reval Ensemble gave its first concerts in 1999 in festivals Gaida in Vilnius and Nyyd in Tallinn with works by German composer York Höller. Thereafter, many other performances followed in Estonia, Latvia (Wagner Hall, Riga), Belgium (Concertgebouw Brugge) and Finland. The ensemble focuses on performing contemporary music and has made many records of Estonian new music for the Estonian Radio.
In 2003, CD To Reach Yesterday with music by Lepo Sumera was released under Belgium label Megadisc.
Reval Ensemble has co-worked with sopranos Pille Lill and Anu Komsi, pianists Marje Lohuaru, Lauri Väinmaa and Arbo Valdma, clarinetist Toomas Vavilov, actors Kärt Tomingas and Aleksandr Ivaskevich, saxophonists Lembit Saarsalu and Villu Veski, dancer Iris Frolov, girls' choir Ellerhein and conductor Tiia-Ester Loitme, Tallinn String Quartet, Tobias String Quartet and many others.
New pieces for the ensemble have been created by Patrick de Clerck, Wim Henderickx, Lauri Jõeleht, Tõnis Kaumann, Mihkel Kerem, Tõnu Kõrvits, Märt-Matis Lill, Mirjam Tally, Eino Tamberg, Toivo Tulev, Helena Tulve and Mari Vihmand.
