Premiere of “Tale of the Creation” by Tauno Aints at Gaudeamus

On June 26, Tauno Aints’s “Tale of Creation” will be premiered at Baltic Students Song and Dance Festival Gaudeamus in Vilnius. “Tale of Creation” (2009) is a staged oratorio for male-, female- and mixed choir, ensemble and wind orchestra. Libretto is written by Anzori Barkalaja, directors are Indrek Sammul and Jaanus Randma, conductor is Raul Talmar. Work will be performed nearly 20 Estonian choirs, four orchestras including Wind Orchestra of Estonian Music and Theatre Academy and ensemble Paabel. Piece based on two Estonian folk songs tells about the story of world’s creation from Estonian folk myth.

Students Song Festivals have been taken place from 1956 in Tartu, Riga and Vilnius. This year’s Gaudeamus will take place from June 24 to 26 in Vilnius, concert venues are St. John’s Church, Town Hall Square and Kalnų Park. Chief conductor and artistic director is Raul Talmar.
