Performances of Arvo Pärt’s works by Estonian conductors

In September, Pärt’s orchestral works will be conducted by Olari Elts in Helsinki and Verona and Kristjan Järvi in Austria.

On September 12, Arvo Pärt’s Orient & Occident for string orchestra (2000) and „Da pacem Domine” for mixed choir and orchestra (2004) will be performed in Helsinki Temppeliaukio Church. Concert program also includes music by Anton Webern and Franz Schubert. Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Olari Elts, also soprano Piia Komsi and EMO Ensemble will participate. Concert will be broadcasted live on YLE Radio 1.

On September 15, Estonian National Symphony Orchestra will give a concert in Verona Teatro Filarmonico, performing Pärt’s Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten for string orchestra and bell (1977/1980) and works by Jean Sibelius and Pyotr Tchaikovsky.

In the end of month, Kristjan Järvi will also conduct Pärt’s Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten with Tonkünstler-Orchester: on September 28 in Vienna Musikverein and September 29 in St. Pölten Festspielhaus. In addition to Pärt’s music, program includes also works by Béla Bartók, Edvard Grieg and Antonín Dvořák in Vienna, Grieg and Ludwig van Beethoven in St. Pölten.
