Opera „Peer Gynt“ by Jüri Reinvere to be premiered in Norwegian National Opera

This Saturday, November 29, Jüri Reinvere’s opera Peer Gynt will be first performed in Oslo. Opera based on Henrik Ibsen’s play was a commission of Norwegian National Opera and observes the Peer Gynt phenomenon as a national and international Norwegian symbol. Like his first opera Purge, Reinvere is a librettist of his second opera, too. In the main roles there will be Nils Harald Sødal (Peer Gynt), Marita Sølberg, Ingebjørg Kosmo, Kari Ulfsnes Kleiven, David Hansen, Thor Inge Falch, Johannes Weisser and Ketil Hugaas. Norwegian National Opera Children’s Chorus, Opera Chorus and Opera Orchestra is conducted by John Helmer Fiore. Stage director is Sigrid Strøm Reibo, set design and costumes are created by Katrin Nottrodt, choreography by Oleg Glushkov. Opera will be played after the premiere seven times: Decemeber 1, 11, 14 and 30, as well as January 11, 15, and 17.

Opera house introduces Reinvere’s music also on November 30, when the concert of Ensemble Cyberstudio and Male Quartet of Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir will take place in the Second House. Program presents Reinvere’s two multimedia pieces: t.i.m.e. for flute, video and electronics and two parts from Requiem for solo flute, male quartet, video and electronics. Beside Reinvere, also Kaija Saariaho’s NoaNoa and Monika Mattiesen’s premiere of Cloudy for four male singers and electronics can be listened.
