Olga Voronova

Olga Voronova began violin studies at Narva Children Music School under the guidance of her mother Svetlana Voronova. She continued in 1985–1993 at the Estonian Academy of Music with Prof Endel Lippus obtaining a bachelor's degree in 1993 and a master's degree in 2002 (thesis Violin Handling in Igor Stravinsky’s Violin Concerto, supervisor Kristel Pappel). In 2002, Voronova continued doctoral studies at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. Voronova has improved her skills at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music with Halida Ahtjamiva (1997–1998), at Hochschule der Künste Berlin with Ilan Gronich (1999–2000) and at Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht with Keiko Waltaja (2002). In addition, Voronova has participated at master courses of Queen Eisabeth International Violin Contest with Mihaela Martin, Berl Senofsky, Eduard Schmieder and Pierre Amoyal. She has participated also at master cousrses of Igor Bezrodny, Zarius Shihmurzayeva and Marianne Boettcher.

Olga Voronova has been working at the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra since 1995. Since 2001, she is a member of Tallinn String Quartet. In 2003, the quartet was awarded the annual prize of Estonian Music Counsil and in 2005, the quartet released a CD with Estonian composers’ works including Kuldar Sink, Alo Põldmäe, Mari Vihmand, Toivo Tulev and Arvo Pärt.

Olga Voronova has played solo with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, Narva City Symphony Orchestra, symphony orchestras of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and the Tallinn Music High School. Voronova has given solo recitals and often performed chamber music with her long-time partners, pianist Mati Mikalai and cellist Leho karin. She has also played with string quartets in France, Germany, Sweden, Italy, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Belgium and Canada.

Olga Voronova has been honored with diplomas at Heino Eller International Violin Competitions in 1991 and 1996. In 1999, she was awarded the Estonian Television
Prize at the competition for young Estonian soloists Con Brio. In 2000, she was laureate at ESTO competition for young talents in Toronto.
