On March 11, Toivo Tulev’s new piece Ah, ne güzelsin! (Behold, thou art fair!) (2014) for two tenors, kemençe, kanun and chamber choir will be premiered in the program Songs of Songs at the Oslo International Church Music Festival. Text of the piece is Song of Songs in Turkish and Latvian, the music of the piece synthesizes Turkish classical makam and European tempered tone system. Tulev’s music will be performed by Latvian Radio Choir, Rūdolfs Bērtiņš (Latvia, tenor) and ensemble Sarband: Mustafa Dogan Dikmen (Turkey, tenor), Sokrates Sinopoulos (Greece, kemençe), Salah Eddin Maraqa (Jordan, kanun), conductor is Kaspars Putniņš. |

Song of Songs is a project created by the Latvian Radio Choir, Ensemble Sarband and a total of six composers from Europe and the Middle East: Lasse Thoresen (Norway), Toivo Tulev (Estonia), Martins Viļums (Latvia), Santa Ratniece (Latvia), Bushra El-Turk (Lebanon/UK) and Vladimir Ivanoff (Bulgaria).
