New CD with Estonian sacred music

German record label Troubadisc has recently released a new CD „Contemporary Sacred Music From Estonia” performed by vocal ensemble Orthodox Singers. The CD presents world premiere recordings of Andres Uibo’s „Antiphons” (2005) and Veljo Tormis’s „At the Crossroads” (1991) as well as Tormis’s choir concerto „Tower Bell in my Village” (1978) and parts of „Kanon Pokajanen” („Kontakion”, „Ode IV” and „Prayer after the Canon”, 1996) by Arvo Pärt.
Orthodox Singers was founded by its conductor and artistic director Valeri Petrov in 1989. The main repertoire of the vocal ensemble is early Orthodox chant. The present CD is ensemble’s eighth.
