New CD of Helena Tulve released by ECM

Record company ECM released composer Helena Tulve’s new CD „Arboles lloran por lluvia“. CD consists of title work Arboles lloran por lluvia (Trees Cry for Rain in Ladino) for voices and nyckelharpa, Reyah hadas ‘ala (text: Shalom Shabazi) for voices and early music consort, silences/larmes on poems by Mother Immaculata Astre for soprano, oboe and percussion, L’Équinoxe de l’âme (text: Shahab al-Din Suhrawardi) for soprano, triple harp and string quartet and orchestral work Extinction des choses vues. Tulve’s music is performed by Arianna Savall (soprano, harp), Charles Barbier (countertenor), Taniel Kirikal (countertenor), Marco Ambrosini (nyckelharpa), Riivo Kallasmaa (oboe), Helena Tulve (glasses, wind chimes), NYYD Quartet (Harry Traksmann – violin, Olga Voronova – violin, Torsten Tiebout – viola, Leho Karin – cello), Vox Clamantis, Hortus Musicus, conductor Jaan-Eik Tulve and Estonian National Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Olari Elts.

Music was recorded in 2009 and 2010 in Tallinn and Estonia Concert Hall. It’s the third author’s CD of Helena Tulve, previously there have been released CD „Lijnen“ (2008) also under ECM and CD „Sula“ (2005) from Estonian Radio.
