Mati Turi and Martti Raide premiere a song cycle by Tõnu Kõrvits

In March, outstanding duo tenor Mati Turi and pianist Martti Raide will premiere a brand new work Three Songs to Poems by Ernst Enno by Tõnu Kõrvits. This song cycle is specially composed for the duo. Turi and Raide will give 6 concerts – 3 concerts witihin the series Music for Estonia on March 3 at 7 pm at Keila Music School, March 20 at 7 pm at Cultural Centre of Karksi Parish and March 25 at 6 pm at Valga Music School and 3 concerts within the series Elite Concerts on March 5 at 7 pm at Assembly Hall of Tartu University, March 11 at 7 pm at Estonia Concert Hall in Tallinn and March 26 at 7 pm at Pärnu Concert House.

In addition to new work by Kõrvits, the program also consists of Three Songs to Poems by Karl Ristikivi, „Waiting for Happiness“ from the cycle Three Songs to Poems by Marie Under and „Yearning“ by Eduard Tubin, Satires, Op. 109 by Dmitri Schostakovich, Four Songs, Op. 2 by Arnold Schönberg, Three Songs, Op. 22 by Erich Wolfgang Korngold and „Die Beiden Grenadieren“, „Mein Wagen rollet langsam“, „Belsatzar“, „Mein schöner Stern“, „Sensucht“ and „Liebslied“ by Robert Schumann.

Martti Raide

These concerts are organised in cooperation between State Concert Institute Eesti Kontsert and Association of Estonian Professional Musicians.

The cooperation between Mati Turi and Martti Raide began in 2007. Since then, they have mainly performed vocal music programs by German (Gustav Mahler, Hugo Wolf, Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann, Richard Strauss, Arnold Schönebrg, Anton Webern) and Estonian composers (Mart Saar, Eduard Tubin, the Kapp family and others). But their repertoire also consists of the North (Jean Sibelius, Edvard Grieg) and French music (Claude Debussy). In addition to Estonia, duo Mati Turi and Martti Raide have also given concerts in USA, Canada and Germany.
