Märt-Matis Lill’s premiere in St. Petersburg

On November 19, Märt-Matis Lill’s ensemble work Capricorn will be premiered in St. Petersburg Composers’ House. New work for flute, clarinet, piano, violin and cello will be performed by the ensemble of soloists of St Petersburg Philharmony. The main piece of the concert inspired of the zodiac signs is Karlheinz Stockhausen’s Tierkreis followed by 12 world premieres of works titled with zodiac signs and composed by authors from Russia, Estonia, Scotland, Iran and USA. Concert is part of the festival Sound Ways that takes place from November 17 to 25 in St. Petersburg.

On November 22, Lill’s music can be listened in Poland, Katowice, where the New Music Orchestra (Orkiestra Muzyki Nowej) under the baton of Szymon Bywalec will play Lill’s piece Fleeting Dreams (2004). Concert at the chamber hall of Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra bears the title Northern afternoon — Scandinavia and is part of the Danish Days. The program includes also Per Nørgård’s Between (cello soloist Jakob Kullberg) and Kaija Saariaho’s Notes on Light.
