Kristjan Järvi conducts Erkki-Sven Tüür’s Requiem in Dresden and Leipzig

This weekend, Erkki-Sven Tüür’s Requiem for soloists, mixed choir, piano and strings will be performed under the direction of Kristjan Järvi in Germany. Musicians are MDR Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra and Choir. Concert titled as Requiescat in pace presents also Sergey Rachmaninov’s symphonic poem Isle of the Dead and Modest Mussorgsky’s Songs and Dances of Death arranged by Dmitry Shostakovich. Tüür’s Requiem is written in 1994 in the memory of conductor Peeter Lilje. It has been performed by Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir as well as foreign choirs many times before in Germany, also in Slovakia, Finland, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, USA, Latvia a.o, recently in this spring in Tallinn.

Concerts will take place on November 22 in Dresden Frauenkirche and November 23 in Leipzig Gewandhaus.
