Karl Tipp

Karl Tipp studied piano in Paide Music School in the class of Astrid Sild. After graduation he went on at the same school with saxophone lessons from Olavi Oismann. From 2011–2015 he studied classical saxophone in Georg Ots Tallinn Music School and currently continues his saxophone studies in the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. Tipp started with composition lessons in 2015 in Georg Ots School under Tatjana Kozlova-Johannes, in 2016 he entered the same school in the speciality of composition.

He has taken part in Fabio Nieder’s master class and Loomelabor summer course (Estonia) with tutors like Tauno Aints, Maria Kõrvits and Liis Viira. In 2016, Karl Tipp’s work "Ilma" won the composition competition "Young Composer 2016". Presently he is working as a saxophone player in the symphony orchestra of the Estonian National Opera. Also he has sung in boys’ choir Kalev and mixed choir HUIK!.

In his creation, Tipp focuses on the conflicts between society and nature. Also he is interested in merging timbres of different instrument groups. Vocal technical methods as well as various means of expression of language have a great importance in his music. Microtonality and electronics are also keywords of his works.
