Festival ‘Estonian Piano and Europe’ started

Within the framework of European Capital of Culture Tallinn 2011, piano festival ‘Estonian Piano and Europe’ is held on November 11 – 18 in Tallinn. The festival is dedicated to three anniversaries: the piano 300, Franz Liszt 200, Estonia grand piano – 60.
In addition to a diverse program of piano music concerts, also conference-symposium "Three centuries of piano building, and Estonia's role in this" will take place during the festival. Also an exhibition of Estonian pianos is set up at Viru Centre.

The festival started with piano exhibition opening and a concert with Estonian pop and jazz musicians at Viru Centre on Friday, november 11. The exposition includes 32 pianos and an overview of piano playing in Estonia.

The final event of the festival is gala concert on Friday, November 18 at 7 pm at Viru Centre with Estonian top pianists, including Andre Hinn, Tanel Joamets, Age Juurikas, Peep Lassmann, Marko Martin, Rein Rannap, Ralf Taal and Lauri Väinmaa, as well as with Piano Orchestra and the laureates of the 2nd Tallinn International Piano Contest.

The festival
is organized by the Estonian National Piano Museum and the artistic director is Alo Põldmäe.
