Estonian TV Girls’ Choir’s concerts in November

On November 19 at 6 pm, concert of Estonian Television Girls’ Choir, conducted by Aarne Saluveer will take place in St. Paul’s Church in Viljandi. Concert entitled Three kings – Tormis, Pärt, Kreek presents choral music by Estonian composers Veljo Tormis, Arvo Pärt and Cyrillus Kreek.
In April and August, Estonian TV Girls’ Choir performed with the same program in Tallinn, Pärnu and Palamuse.

On the First Sunday of Advent, November 29 Estonian Television Girls’ Choir will give two concerts entitled Waiting for Christmas with a program consisting of music by Cyrillus Kreek, Gustav Holst, Irving Berlin and Franz Gruber. The concerts will take place at 12.30 pm in St. Catherine’s Church in Muhu and at 5 pm in Kuressaare’s St. Lawrence’s Church.

Estonian Television Girls’ Choir grew out from the Music Studio of Estonian Television Children's Programs founded by Eve Viilup and Aarne Saluveer in 1990. The repertoire of the choir consists of classical and contemporary music, sacred music, folk music accompanied by dance movements and modern pop-jazz music programs. They have won awards from several international contests (Gorizia 2001, Arezzo 2002, Tolosa 2004, Arnhem 2005 etc).

Aarne Saluveer, the chief conductor of Estonian TV Girls’ Choir, has graduated from the Tallinn Conservatoire in music pedagogy and choral conducting. He has been the general conductor of toddlers’ choirs and children’s choirs at the Estonian Song Celebrations and the artistic director of Youth Song Celebration “Ilmapuu” (2007). At the present time, Aarne Saluveer is the head of Georg Ots Tallinn Music School, teacher of Tartu University Viljandi Culture Academy and chairman of the Estonian Choral Association. He has been awarded several prizes (Musician of the Year 2007, Conductor of the Year 2007 etc).
