Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and the Orlando Consort released a joint CD-album

Harmonia Mundi released a CD-album Scattered Rhymes that contains Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and the Orlando Consort conducted by Paul Hillier performing contemporary music along with early music. CD includes Scattered Rhymes by Tarik O’Regan, Messe de Nostre Dame by Guillaume de Machaut, Ave Regina celorum by Guillaume Dumay, Super Flumina by Gavin Bryars, Douce dame joulie by Guillaume de Machaut and Virelai: Douce dame jolie by Tarik O’Regan which is performed by the Orlando Consort. The recording took place in May 2007 in Greyfriars Kirk, Edinburgh, while Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir was on tour in UK.

The author of the main composition of the recording, Tarik O’Regan (1978), is born in London and is two-time British Composer Award winner. His compositions have been performed internationally by the BBC Symphony Orchestra, London Sinfonietta and BBC Singers. For writing Scattered Rhymes, O’Regan got inspiration from the creators of 14th century. As a text he used poems by Petrarca and anonymous English writer and this was meant for performing with Messe de Nostre Dame by Guillaume de Machaut. Scattered Rhymes is a commission work by Spitalfields Festival.

The Orlando Consort is formed in 1988 by the Early Music Centre of Great Britain. By today it has established as one of Britain’s most important vocal ensembles, its imaginative and innovative programming embracing also contemporary music and jazz.
