Estonia celebrates the International Music Day



On the 1st of October, the Estonian Music Council organizes the program of over 150 free concerts that take place all over Estonia. Next to traditional music venues, concerts are held in some of the most unexpected places – such as hospitals, shopping centers, public transport and many others. The focus is on classical music, but one can listened also folk, choral and jazz music. Music Day culminates with Music Awards Ceremony in KUMU Art Musem, which is broadcasted live on ETV.

International Music Day was initiated by the former president of The International Music Council Mr Yehudi Menuhin over 40 years ago to promote the art of music. International Music Day puts musical art in the center of our attention encouraging us think about the importance of music and its place in modern life. Year 2016 is the first time when Estonian musicians celebrate International Music Day by giving a concerts abroad.
