Erkki-Sven Tüür’s orchestral piece on tour in Australia, performance of Piano Concerto in Romania

Erkki-Sven Tüür’s cycle for strings Action. Passion. Illusion (1993) is in the program of ACO Collective tour in Australia from February 4 to 19. Under the baton of Pekka Kuusisto 11 concerts will be given in different cities of Australia: Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Newcastle, Adelaide and Brisbane. Concert titled as „Beethoven and the 21st century“ presents music of Sibelius and Beethoven alongside contemporary composers Nico Muhly (1981), Erkki-Sven Tüür, Michael Tippett (1905–1998) and Bryce Dessner (1976).

Tüür’s Piano Concerto (2006) will be performed by pianist Mihkel Poll with the Filarmonica Oltenia on February 26 in Craiova, Romania. Program includes also Artur Kapp’s overture Don Carlos and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2. Conductor is Jüri Alperten. Concert is part of the project „Europa Season“ that presents 28 concerts dedicated to the European Union member states, having as guest artists 28 conductors and 31 soloists on the Oltenia Philharmonic’s stage. Tüür’s chamber piece Symbiosis (1996) can be listened on February 25 in Sage Gateshead (UK) at the concert of Royal Northern Sinfonia.
