Conductor Risto Joost and 150 young musicians


 

This weekend conductor Risto Joost and 150 young musicians from all over Estonia will perform pieces by French composers Marc-Antoine Charpentier and Jean-Philippe Rameau at Tallinn Music High School’s concerts entitled Christmas Music à la française.

Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Choir of Tallinn Music High School, Estonian Youth Mixed Choir, Youth Choir of Kuusalu High School and sopranos Pirjo Püvi and Jaanika Kuusik, mezzo-soprano Teele Jõks, tenor Hanno Mölderkivi and baritone Taavi Tampuu will give two concerts under the baton of Risto Joost – on December 12 at 4 pm at the concert hall of Tallinn Music High School and December 13 at 6 pm at the Tallinn Methodist Church.
The program includes Charpentier’s Te Deum H146 and Midnight Mass for Christmas H9 and Rameau’s Les Indes Galantes Suite No. 1.

Risto Joost has been the conductor of Tallinn Music High School’s Symphony Orchestra since 2006. In 2008, they won the first prize at the competition of youth orchestras "Youth & Music in Vienna". Professor Toomas Kapten conducted the orchestra from 1987 to 2006.
