Concert of choir works by Galina Grigorjeva

On January 18 at 6 pm, concert of Galina Grigorjeva’s music titled as Nature morte will take place in Tallinn Niguliste Church. The conductor is Paul Hillier who brings together two top vocal groups closely related to him – the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and Theatre of Voices, and his recent new partner – the YXUS Ensemble. Concert features also Monika Mattiesen (flute). Program consists of following works: Svyatki, Salve Regina, Diptych, Lamento, Nature morteIn Paradisum.

The output of Galina Grigorjeva has deserved appreciation for its remarkably subtle and animated melodic style. Her music is tightly linked to Slavonic sacred music as well as early European polyphony. Galina Grigorjeva was awarded The Heino Eller Music Prize in 2003 and the Annual Prize of the Endowment for Music of the Cultural Endowment of Estonia in 2004 and 2013. In 2014, Grigorjeva was ascribed the The Order of the White Star Fourth Class.
