CD with music by Baltic composers

German record company Ambitus Musikproduktion has released CD „Mirage” with Baltic music for guitar and orchestra. CD presents Arvo Pärt’s „Fratres (version for guitar and string orchestra) and Lithuanian composers Osvaldas Balakauskas’s „Odyssey from B to C” (version for flute, guitar and orchestra) and Anatolijus Šenderovas’s „...I Stretched My Hands - Mirage...” from music by composers of older generation. Among music by younger composers, Ēriks Ešenvalds’s „Songs of Silence” and Tõnu Kõrvits’s „Songs on the bridge of Encounters” have been selected on the CD. Works are performed by musicians with long-time and successful cooperation: Reinbert Evers (guitar), Robert Aitken (flute) and St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra Vilnius conducted by Donatas Katkus. Kõrvits’s „Songs on the bridge of Encounters” was commissioned by Reinbert Evers and premiered by the same musicians at the Münster International Guitar Festival in 2006.

It’s the second CD with Baltic music from Ambitus – in 2000, Ambitus released CD „Drama” with guitar music where Estonian music is presented with the title piece by Erkki-Sven Tüür.
