Andres Siitan

Andres Siitan has long time acted in Estonian music life as an oboist and also director of Estonian National Symphony Orchestra. Currently Siitan is producer and marketing manager of Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, he is also flautist at early music ensemble Cantores Vagantes and leads agency AS Artists Management founded by himself.

Andres Siitan began music studies on flute and block flute by himself. After two years of practicing, Siitan entered Georg Ots Tallinn Music School, which he graduated in 1984 on oboe under the guidance of Leho Läte. In 1988–1993 Siitan continued oboe studies at Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre with Heldur Värvi. In 1991–1992 Siitan developed his skills as an exchange student at The University of Music Karlsruhe under the guidance of professor Thomas Indermühle. In addition Siitan has taken part of business management programs at the University of Tartu (2000–2001) and DeVos Institute for Arts Management in Washington (2002–2003).

In 1987–1988 Andres Siitan was music teacher at Vanalinna Muusikamaja („The Old Town Music House“). He has worked also as a singer of Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir (1988–1989), as a teacher at Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (1993–1994) and as an oboist at Estonian National Symphony Orchestra (1989–1999, since 1993 concertmaster). In 1999–2010 Andres Siitan was director of Estonian National Symphony Orchestra. In 2011 Siitan founded agency AS Artists Management and since 2012 Siitan is producer and marketing manager of Tallinn Chamber Orchestra. He also performes on block flute as a partician of ensemble Cantores Vagantes.

Siitan has performed as a soloist with Estonian National Symphony Orchestra (Richard Strauss´ Oboe Concerto, 1993, conductor Arvo Volmer). He has also cooperated with NYYD Ensemble, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, Pärnu City Orchestra, Haapsalu Promenade Sinfonietta and Tallinn Baroque Orchestra and several chamber music collectives. Siitan often has performed with renowed pianist Siim Poll. Siitan also belongs to the International Eduard Tubin Society.
