Andreas Lend

b. 14.10.1983 Tallinn

Andreas Lend began music studies at Tallinn Music High School under the guidance of Laine Leichter. In 2010 he obtained masters degree from Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre with Prof. Peeter Paemurru and furthered studies at Sibelius Academy under the guidance of Prof. Hannu Kiiski ja Heikki Pekkarinen. In addition Andreas Lend has participated in numerous master classes including Frans Helmerson, David Geringas, Martin Ostertag, Niels Ullner, Marko Ylonen, Matias de Oliveira Pinto, Aleksander Ivashkin, Johannes Goritzki ect.

Andreas has won prizes at many competitions including 1st Prize and Grand Prix at the 5th International Contest-Festival „Renaissance“ in Armenia (2013), 1st Prize at „ESTA“ Competiton for Young String Players in Estonia (2004), 3st Prize at August Dombrovska international competition in Riga (2002) and laureate of Liezen International Cello Competition Liezen (Austria, 2000). He has also been awarded the „International Holland Music Session” summer academy scholarship (2009 and 2010) and is the recipient of the Pille Lill Music Fond’s Marje and Kuldar Sink award „Young Musician 2011“. 

Currently Andreas Lend is the cellist at the Estonian National Opera and Prezioso string quartet. He has been a member of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, in 2004–2014 he was a member of the C-JAM cello quartet. His concerts as a soloist and chamber musician has taken him to Finland, Lithuania, Latvia, Czech Republic, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Hungary, Russia, Canada, England, Bulgaria, Italy, Rumenia and England. He has given recitals at festivals such as Tallinn Chamber Music Festival, Rapla Church Music Festival, Järvi Summer Festival, Kuopio Historical Keyboard Festival in Finland, Festival della Valle d'Itria in Italy ect.

In future Andreas Lend's concert calender include recitals in Sweden, Wales, Italy and Turkey with internationally renowned musicians as Camerata Nordica (Sweden) and string quartet Sinfonia Cymru (UK).
